Court Square Farmers Market Manager Position:
Duties & Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all vendors, customers, and other stakeholders
- Develop and implement marketing plans to increase foot traffic and sales
- Create a positive and welcoming environment at the market that encourages community involvement
- Manage all aspects of market operations, including set-up, break-down, and troubleshooting
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations
- Maintain accurate records of market transactions and activities
- Prepare weekly reports on market performance and submit to the Board of Directors
- Oversee the development and implementation of educational programs related to healthy eating and sustainable agriculture
- Collaborate with other farmers markets in the area to share best practices and improve overall market performance
- Serve as a liaison between the market and local media outlets
- Recruit new vendors and provide support to existing vendors
- Plan and execute special events and promotions
- High School GED Required. Some college preferred
- Experience in customer service, marketing, or management
- Proven leadership and team-building skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time
- Experience working in a Farmers Market or similar retail setting
- Knowledge of local food systems and agricultural practices
- Passion for promoting healthy eating and sustainable food production
- Creative problem-solving skills
- Interest in community building & relations
Hours and Compensation
- Hours not to exceed 40 hours per week—with no overtime approved for any reason without full CEDC Board approval.
- Compensation is $15.50/hour
- Market Manager will report directly to one of two specifically assigned CEDC Board Members/Officers. The Board Member Officers for the 2023-2024 season are Joni Glass and Julie Doyle (subject to change).
- Any changes, modifications, or enhancements to this pay plan must be approved by the full CEDC Board. This pay plan does not constitute a contract of employment. All employment with this position is on an at-will basis, which means that either the Market Manager or the CEDC Board can terminate the employment relationship at any time with or without prior notice. The CEDC also retains the right to modify this pay plan at any time, with prior notice. There are no other provisions, benefits, or compensation amounts—monetary or otherwise—associated with this pay plan.
