CITY OF COVINGTON WATER DEPARTMENT WINS REGION 11 BEST TASTING WATER CONTEST

JACKSON, Tenn. (May 13, 2024) – The City of Covington Water Department was recently awarded the top prize at the Region 11 Best Tasting Water Contest.  Conducted by the Tennessee Association of Utility Districts (TAUD), the competition took place at the JEA Training Center in Jackson. 
 
TAUD Region 11 consists of Henderson, Madison, Haywood, Tipton, Chester, Shelby, Fayette, Hardeman, and McNairy counties.  In addition to the City of Covington Water Department, the other Region 11 utilities that submitted samples of drinking water for the competition were the Town of Oakland, the City of Germantown, the City of Munford, and Lexington Utilities.
 
Participating as judges for the competition were Jason Fryer of TN811, Steve Beverly of Worthy Road Studios, and Senator Ed Jackson.  The samples were judged on clarity, bouquet, and taste.
 
The meeting was sponsored by USG Water and Prestige Worldwide.
 
This spring, TAUD is conducting the Best Tasting Water in Tennessee Contest in each of its 11 regions.  Each regional winner will compete at the TAUD's 2024 Annual Business Conference at the Gatlinburg Convention Center on Thursday, August 8.  The statewide winner will represent TAUD at the Great American Water Taste Test held in conjunction with the National Rural Water Association’s Rural Water Rally in February 2025.
