Downtown Covington Music Series

The 2023 Covington Downtown Music Series Honors
H.T. Hackney and Mueller Fittings Employees!
The Covington Downtown Music Series is back!  LIVE music every Saturday night—May 20th through June 24th.  On paper, the 2023 Music Series looks like the old “Music on the Square” but there are some significant improvements.  First and foremost, H.T. Hackney and Mueller Fittings have been named as Honorary Title Sponsors—the first such designation in Music Series history.  The Honorary Title Sponsor tribute is to recognize both companies for their continued presence as major employers after the tornado that hit Covington on March 31st.  In addition to this recognition, The Covington Downtown Music Series is providing every employee of H.T. Hackney and Mueller Fittings $25.00 in “Chamber Gift Certificates” which can be spent at over 50 local businesses that are members of the Covington-Tipton County Chamber of Commerce.
Other announcements regarding this year’s Covington Downtown Music Series came in the publication of this year’s entertainment lineup, which features some of the best acts in West Tennessee and East Arkansas.  In addition to the headlining acts, the Music Series will showcase young local talent every week, who will get a chance to play a short two or three-song set of music during every band break.  This will be the first time most of these kids will be performing in front of a LIVE audience, and a great way to give young up-and-coming musicians a chance to share the stage with a big-time headline acts!
Other big enhancements for this year’s Music Series are the addition of sound, stage, and lights for every performance—and a return to just one concert, in the cool of the evening every Saturday night from 7pm until 10pm, with the stage set up on the east side of the Historic Downtown Covington Square.
Lori Beth Belk, President of the Covington Economic Development Corporation, sponsor of the annual event said, “We are so excited about this year’s Music Series!  For us to be able to honor the employees of Mueller Fittings, and H.T. Hackney means so much to us!  Those two companies have been big supporters of our community for years, and their employees are going through so much right now due to the damage and destruction from the tornado in March.  We knew we had to do something to honor them and thank them for staying here in Covington to help us rebuild our community!  With people like the leaders of these two companies and their employees, we know we will come back better and stronger than ever!”
Belk continued by saying, “When we started to plan this year’s Music Series, we got a lot of public feedback and input that helped us make the changes to go back to something that looked like our old “Music on the Square”.  We added some new members to the Music Series Committee who brought some fresh new ideas that will make this year’s Music Series our best ever!  Besides honoring H.T. Hackney and Mueller Fittings, one of my favorite suggestions the committee made this year is to showcase young musicians every weekend.  We’re really excited about that!  And with all we’ve been through over the past few months, we hope this year’s Music Series is exactly what our community needs!”
The new members of the Music Series Committee that Belk is referring to are Austin Mason and Noah Smith (owners of Liberty Guitars and Gear) and Jesse and Jessica Hernandez (owners of JH3 Entertainment) who brought new bands, new ideas, and new energy to the already successful Music Series.
Along with Honorary Title Sponsors H.T. Hackney and Mueller Fittings, this year’s Title Sponsors for the Covington Downtown Music Series are Rose Construction, Coca-Cola of Corinth, and Landers North.  Other major sponsors include Baptist Memorial Hospital Tipton, Jere Mason “The Kickin’ Lawyer”, Express Chevrolet, Patriot Bank, The Cellar Restaurant and Prohibition Bar, and Liberty Guitars & Gear.
